A match in the Italian Lega Pro (third division) ended in forfeit after a team deliberately reduced themselves to six men.
Salernitana hosted Nocerina, and the home side barred Nocerina for unknown reasons.
Having been hit by their own angry fans with death threats before even getting off the team bus, the match begun 45 minutes behind schedule.
Then, Nocerina used all three of their substitutions in the first minute, five players limped off with “injuries” in the first 17 minutes, and another was red carded.
By rule, once a team reaches six men the game must be abandoned, which the referee did.
The Nocerina fans threatened their players because they were angry about not being able to attend the match. According to Sky Italia’s Tancredi Palmeri, the players refused to step off the bus amid the death threats, and only were convinced once discussions with the Lega Pro board commenced.
