A mouth-watering tie awaits at White Hart Lane, as Tottenham host Manchester City (Watch live on NBCSN, 2:45pm ET and online via Live Extra) on Wednesday.
Spurs haven’t lost in six games since Tim Sherwood took charge permanently, with five wins out of six seeing the North Londoners right back in the hunt for a top four finish. They also want revenge after being embarrassed 6-0 by Man City at the Etihad Stadium in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
As for Man City, they’ve been in breathtaking form with goals flying in from everywhere and they are unbeaten in 19 games in all competitions, winning 17 of those. Fresh with the knowledge that a win away at Tottenham would send the top of the PL, City’s attackers will be eager to be even more clinical than they usually are.
Tottenham have only lost once in their last 10 PL games, a 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool, and historically they get the better of City at the Lane, with seven wins and just one defeat in the last 10 meetings.
Under Sherwood Spurs are a sprightly attacking unit which lean on getting the ball forward early and letting their game-changers do the business, City will be wary of that but with Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko in free-scoring form, you’d expect the Citizens to win.
In team news Tottenham are without wingers Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela through injury, while Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul and Sandro have missed out as their return to fitness continues. Aaron Lennon and Gylfi Sugurdsson start on the flanks with Christian Eriksen the chief creator behind Emmanuel Adebayor up top.
For Man City, Alvaro Negredo is fit after overcoming a shoulder injury but is only on the bench as Aguero and Dzeko get the nod up front.
