La Liga? Premier League? Serie A? Bundesliga?
In bars, stadiums and living rooms across the world, this discussion is always an interesting one. Just what is the best league in the world?

One player who has experience of both England’s Premier League and Spain’s La Liga, arguably the top two competitions in world soccer, has spoken out and believes one is superior. Step forward Gareth Bale, the most expensive player in the world.
When asked if La Liga was the best in the world and above the PL, Bale had the following to say.
“The Spanish League is the most exciting and the world’s top players play there,” Bale said. “Barcelona or Real Madrid are always there, near the Champions League final or winning it. The Premier League is a great league but we are attracting the best players to La Liga. It is great to be involved in it.”
After another summer of splurging on big-name players and spending hundreds of millions of dollars between them, Real and Barcelona are certainly creating two of the greatest squads seen in soccer history. Madrid have stars such as Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema, while Barca possess Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Xavi among others.
Spain’s two biggest teams are stacked.
However, is La Liga really the ‘most exciting league in the world’ as Bale says? I would argue the PL or maybe even the Bundesliga can stake a claim as being the most exciting to watch. Sure, both England and Germany have domestic powerhouses like Real and Barcelona but across the board those leagues seem to be much more competitive and tend to churn out more shocks and upsets than you see in Spain.
Spain is the most star-studded league, yes. Is it the most exciting? I’m not so sure, Gareth.
