The EFL Cup (League Cup, if you can’t keep up with the name changes) quarterfinals kick off on Tuesday with two games taking center stage.
Liverpool host Leeds United at Anfield, while second-tier Newcastle United head down the north east coast to Hull City.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make plenty of changes to an all of a sudden injury hit Liverpool side, with Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge out injured and Roberto Firmino struggling. Garry Monk‘s Leeds are on a good run of form in the Championship as they’ve won four of their last five and currently sit in fifth place in the standings. The massive club from Yorkshire are the underdogs but have nothing to lose.
Speaking about the Championship, Newcastle United are top of the second-tier after being relegated from the Premier League last season but the north east giants will likely rest plenty of players at Hull. However, Rafael Benitez will fancy the Magpies’ chances of getting past the Tigers who have just one win in 11 Premier League matches and will also prioritize league action.
Both Liverpool and Hull will want to advance to the semifinals but are likely to field weakened teams against these second-tier high fliers. Does anybody else smell a couple of upsets?
