News good and bad is emanating from Caleb Porter’s under-23 training camp in Nashville, where the young Americans are prepping for launch of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying later this week.

Josh Gatt has been recalled by his club side, Norwegian side Molde FK, leaving Porter just five defenders in camp. Expect reinforcements to arrive soon. More details are here at U.S. Soccer.

This is why Porter announced the tentative roster last week but declined prudently to turn in the official roster, not due until Tuesday. U.S. Soccer is free to make any changes until the official submission, at which point only injury replacements are permitted.

Meanwhile, the club took down the Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL) in a closed-door friendly Sunday night. Interviews and brief highlights (including a nice goal by Brek Shea), courtesy U.S. Soccer’s Studio 90 are here …
