Nobody really believed that Jurgen Klinsmann wasn’t paying attention to Herculez Gomez’s personal assault on helpless defenses across the continent, right?
It does Klinsmann no good to ignore a scorer in grand form. Managers have varying ideas of who fits, who doesn’t, what qualities they need at certain positions, etc. But generally speaking, every coach in every sport wants to win. Period. They pick the players that get them closest to the finish line, whatever that may be.
Fans may disagree with selections, but suggestions of something more afoot (anti-this or stubbornly opposed to that) are generally half-baked.
Klinsmann? He didn’t just fall off a German pumpkin truck. He was a scorer. He knows a scorer when he sees one.
But if you still need proof … look above right.
