ProSoccerTalk’s daily soccer re-set: The dreams of Zlatan

Birthday of Note: Meep, meep! It’s time to pay homage to a player who is the favorite of many may age. He had the honor of playing for all of Ajax, Arsenal and Barcelona, scored 51 goals in this three years in London, and raised the Champions League trophy with Ajax in 1995. Happy 38th birthday to the Roadrunner, Marc Overmars.

Big Important Story of the Day: Expect people to start weighing in on Colin Clark. Yesterday, after MLS announced his three-match ban, there was some processing ahead of the evening Champions League match. Today, people will come out swinging, though you may have already read Steve’s thoughts. Or our man Jeff’s. Or others. Expect more today.

Ahead on the blog today*: Casting a hopeful eye to the MLS weekend, a woeful eye to some bad memories from last season, and wondering about Brazil’s World Cup readiness for 2014.

*Always subject to change, though that’s looking pretty solid

PST background noise while blogging: South Park … Season 12, Episode 12 (“Yeeeeeaaaah! It’s chaaaaange!”)

We’ll leave you with: Some may be down on Milan’s Wednesday result, but I’m pretty sure there’s a chapter in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s autobiography where he predicts a late goal at the Nou Camp, a 1-1, and him celebrating in front of Pep Guardiola.

OK, I made that up, but he totally could have wrote that!

See you in a few with your Thursday Field of Play.
