Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger fined, suspended by UEFA board

Perhaps Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should have gone full Jose Mourinho and poked his finger in someone’s eye instead of lashing out verbally.

Word comes this morning that Arsenal’s manager has been suspended from the sidelines for three matches and fined about $53,000 (40,000 euro) by UEFA’s disciplinary board for actions earlier this month in a Champions League match against AC Milan.

Wenger confronted and then criticized Slovenian referee Damir Skomina after the match, which Arsenal won, but by an insufficient goal total to advance.

The suspension is for Arsenal’s next match UEFA matches, next year at earliest. Gunners have already been eliminated from this year’s competition.

So next time, perhaps he just picks an unwitting opposition coach for a little comical venting, a la Mourinho. Real Madrid’s manager somehow escaped punishment for this little stunt.
