Dallas playmaker David Ferreira needs another surgery

The news can hardly be considered “good” around FC Dallas Stadium, where playmaker David Ferreira will need another surgery to repair a small fracture in his foot. He’ll miss another 6-8 weeks.

The club announced this latest surgery Tuesday morning.

On the other hand, at least team officials seem to know more about what’s going on with the league’s 2010 MVP, who was inching closer to a healthy return during preseason, before the latest setback.

Ferreira’s original injury occurred on April 24, 2011. So in the most optimistic circumstance, the shifty and cerebral midfield schemer will have missed 13 total months. That’s the “starting point.” He’ll still needs some time to get past the mental obstacles of overcoming such a devastating injury (the original one, that is).
