The story is in Spanish, but the bottom line is that Rossi will miss this summer’s Euro 2012 tournament for Italy.
And it really is a blow for the Villarreal man, who has worked so hard to get back into action after an initial ACL tear last October against Real Madrid. Villarreal certainly appreciates its fallen star, having struggled for goals while remaining harrowingly close to the La Liga drop zone.
As for this summer in Poland and Ukraine: Italy manager Cesare Prandelli recently discussed his hopes that Rossi could get himself fit for Euro 2012 performance. The opportunity was certainly there.
Mario Balotelli’s place in the Azzurri side must certainly be in question. Antonio Di Natale, Pablo Osvaldo, Antonio Cassano, Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco are options, but Rossi would have been right in the middle of it all.
