I may turn in my official Journalists badge, sell my home and move to a new city just to be a supporter if some MLS club ever adopts the very-cool Bayern Munich way of tying in supporters to the official goal announcement of a home-team strike.
(I realize today’s Real Madrid-Bayern match is not in Germany; this is just a convenient excuse to show you a cool video and Bayern’s clever presentation.)
Loosely translated, the process at every Bayern goal inside the gleaming Allianz Arena in Munich goes something like this:
Announcer: Says the minute of the goal
Announcer: Says goal scorer’s first name (In this case, “Franck”)
Crowd: replies with scorer’s last name (Ribery!)
Repeats three times
Announcer: Begins announcing the updated score by saying “We have a new score: Bayern Munich …”
Crowd: replies with Bayern’s score
Announcer: Says opponent’s name (Here it’s “Schalke …”)
Crowd: Replies with opposition score
Announcer: “Thank you”
Crowd: “You’re welcome!”
Here it is. Enjoy.
