ProSoccerTalk’s daily soccer re-set

What we’re thinking, what we’re watching, what’s coming on the blog today and the RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day). Setting up your day in soccer …

Birthdays of note: Aliaksandr Hleb, a quality midfielder who played not very long ago at Arsenal and Barcelona, turns 31 today. Celebrate by getting lost in the system the way Hleb once did.

What you should watch on TV: It’s a U.S. international doubleheader: at 11:55 a.m. ET, Micheal Bradley’s Chievo meets Roma in a Serie A contest on Fox Soccer Channel. At 2:30 p.m. ET, Clint Dempsey’s Fulham meets Liverpool in the next Barclay’s Premier League contest. That’s also on FSC.

Ahead on the blog today*: MLS Weekly rankings, an early preview of the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, pulling back the curtain on Jurgen Klinsmann’s personnel scouting network, plus some following up on City’s 1-0 win over Manchester United. (Can we just call that club “City” now, as some already do? Seems like the Noisy Neighbors have earned it.)

RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day): Carlos Llamosa

Twitter daps: ESPN announcer Ian Darke ‏ (@IanDarkeESPN), just after calling Monday’s historic night from Manchester: “Man city played like champions tonight. United perhaps had too many who had been in and out of side lately. Surprised by selection.”

U.S. international Sacha Kljestan (@SachaKljestan): “Great start to the NBA playoffs by my Clippers [Sunday] night. What a comeback!!”

PST background noise while blogging today: KXT in Dallas.
