What we’re thinking, what we’re watching, what’s coming on the blog today and the RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day). Setting up your day in soccer …

Birthdays of Note: What a massive few days for Houston Dynamo midfielder Adam Moffat. First he opens that fancy new stadium down in Texas. And then he goes and turns 26 on us. Also today, Brazilian international Cristiane, who spent a year with the Chicago Red Stars of Women’s Professional Soccer, turns 27. And if we wander to the other side of 30, we find Manchester United and French international Patrice Evra, who turns 31 today.

Ahead on the blog today*: Our weekly MLS rankings (Shakeups? Yeah, we see a few …), plus those thoughts on Red Bulls manager Hans Backe that we never got to yesterday.

What we should all be watching on TV: Portland meets Houston in the first night game at BBVA Compass Stadium (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live, MLS Direct Kick).

RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day): Mike Sorber

Twitter daps: Rangers and U.S. international midfielder Maurice Edu (@MauriceEdu), who just got back into the States following the completion of Scotland’s season:Wide awake! In Cali but still on uk time…who else is up? Talk to me people”

U.S. international striker and NBA fans Jozy Altidore (@JozyAltidore): “OKC played a great game, will be a good series. Miami is still winning it all tho…”

PST background noise while blogging today: A little NPR, now that the confounded spring pledge drive is over
