The Columbus Crew did some serious climbing in Week 12, leap-frogging three sides to find themselves Monday morning in fourth place in the East.
They couldn’t have done it without Venezuelan striker Emilio Renteria, who woke from a season-long statistical slumber to contribute significantly in a massive road win at Seattle and then in a home victory over Chicago – both achievements coming just four days apart.
His night against Seattle included an assist and one outstanding, long-range, opportunistic goal. (Watch the video below.)
Back at home, Renteria nailed the game-winner against Chicago. Those were his first appearances on the score sheet this year.
