Highlights: New England downs Chicago Fire

If New England can re-impose itself in the Eastern Conference race –and the Revs haven’t been very imposing in MLS soccer since 2009, if we’re being honest – then Saturday’s match at Gillette Stadium was very kind of contest Jay Heaps’ team has to win.

Chicago is a mid-table team in the East, a.k.a. the kind of team New England simply must conquer at home, along with any clubs south of the mid-table line.

Kelyn Rowe and Benny Feilhaber each offered a goal and an assist to the Revs’ 2-0 win. For Chicago, the 2012 debut of Chris Rolfe (off the bench) was perhaps the one good note from this one, the last game before Frank Klopas’ club goes on international break.

Rolfe was signed for a second Chicago Fire stint in April, but an ankle injury has delayed his debut.

Here are Saturday’s highlights.
