ESPN Classic is reliving past Euro greatness

Also file under: wondering what scoundrel made off with all the European Championship video from 2000 and 2004?

OK, never mind that. Just being a stinker.

ESPN Classic will help you warm up for Euro 2012 by reaching into the files of recent European Championship greatness. Two of them, at least.

It’s all starting today as ESPN Classic replays four dandies from the last European Championship tournament, held across Switzerland and Austria in 2008. Tuesday the network dips back into 1996 (held in England) before re-visiting Euro 2008 for two more days, on Wednesday and Thursday.

On the one hand, I’m quite grateful. (I just finished watching Germany-Portugal in the 2008 quarter. Good stuff.) On the other hand, watching stuff like this reminds me how ridiculously spoiled I’ve become on seeing games in HD.

I know. Pitiful. What can I say?

The daily schedule is here, but we’ve done the work for you through the next couple of days.

Tuesday’s schedule (1996)

Germany vs. Croatia, 9:30 a.m. ET

France vs. Czech Republic, 11:30 a.m. ET

Wednesday’s schedule (2008)

Croatia vs. Turkey, 10:30 a.m. ET

Spain vs. Italy, 1 p.m. ET

Netherlands vs. Russia, 3 p.m. ET
