We’ve had little teases here and there regarding Steve Zakuani’s return to the field for Seattle. So, any and all reports about the culmination of his frustratingly slow recovery process should be viewed with caution.
That said, Joshua Mayers of The Seattle Times reports that Sounders coach Sigi Schmid has hinted at possibilities of a Zakuani sighting Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City. Schmid said he was considering adding the left winger to the 18-man game day roster.
Zakuani played 45 minutes in a recent reserve match, but hasn’t gotten into an MLS contest since his devastating injury at Colorado more than a year ago.
Schmid told Mayers the palyer was “definitely improved his training and so forth,” and that Zakuani has “taken another step forward.”
