Colorado Rapids do their part for wildfire effort

The July 4 date is always big for soccer in Denver, where the Rapids’ record of success is as impressive as some of the crowds they used to draw back in the big-stadium days downtown.

The Rapids are 11-2-3 on their traditional July 4 date.

But whatever tonight’s outcome against the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps, something important will have occurred at DSG Park.

That’s because the Rapids announced Wednesday their support in fundraising for HelpColoradoNow.org, assisting in efforts to provide relief for the devastating wildfires throughout the state. The team’s jerseys tonight will bear the name HelpColoradoNow.org, a website that provides information on how to help Coloradans in need, through donations of money, materials and volunteering opportunities.

Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey:

The wildfires throughout our state have caused unprecedented damage, and we all have to do our part to help support those affected. Putting HelpColoradoNow.org on the front of our jerseys is the most visible and effective way we can drive awareness and donations to organizations that are providing assistance in this time of need.”
