Pavel Pardo put in a big effort to Chicago’s 1-0 win over Vancouver, a result that elevates the Fire for now into a third-place tie with New York.
Pardo was doing good work in midfield, striving to reduce Barry Robson’s role for the visitors’ attack. Then Pardo had to pull extra duty when center back Arne Friedrich was shown his second yellow, forcing the home side to play a man down over the last 20 minutes.
But Frank Klopas’ team did, indeed, see out the match and take all three points.
The game’s lone goal? That was Pardo, too. Watch his very delicately worked free kick rise just over Vancouver’s wall and drop perfectly into the upper left corner.
