The little teases keep coming with Seattle winger Steve Zakuani. All the way back to the preseason, we thought he was ready to get back on the field.
Alas, he wasn’t.
Then came a fine July night in Seattle about a month ago, when the Sounders’ winger did finally make his return to the field.
And yet, those four short minutes on the field now represent the entirety of Zakuani’s 2012 season with Seattle’s first team. He wasn’t quite ready for more.
So, does this morning’s news bring the Sounders winger closer to relevant action? Zakuani scored twice as the Sounders reserves topped the L.A. Galaxy reserves in a match in suburban Tukwila.
What Zakuani, who scored a goal in a competitive match for the first time since April of 2011, told the Seattle Times afterward:
I’ve been wanting to play for a long time, and I understand it’s a process, but games like today help my confidence and help show that I’m maybe not too far off.”
