There is a lot of upside to qualifying out of a weaker region. Bottom line, the United States will always have good odds of safe World Cup passage.
The down side (if there is any) is this: U.S. supporters are frequently deprived of the kind of nervous nights like Tuesday, where reporters on hand all mentioned the palpable anxiety that covered Crew Stadium like some eerie fog.
Those nights may turn some hair gray, but this is what being a fan is all about. Safe to say that anybody who cares about the United States national team’s ability to arrive safely into Brazil 2014 had some jitters about all this.
Now, we can all enjoy it.
So, here are last night’s highlights of the 1-0 win over Jamaica, including those first-half saves from Reggae Boyz goalkeeper Dwayne Miller, who looked like he was having one those nights before his 65th minute slip of the glove helped turn the night.
