Bradley ranked among best coaches

Bob Bradley, remember the name?

Bold headed chap, talks in a droll tone and was the USMNT’s head coach at the last FIFA World Cup in 2010… of course you do.

Well, the former US national team maestro has been handed one heck of an accolade over the past few days, as he was ranked as the fifth best national team coach in the world.

Tremendous achievement.

Bradley has become something of an icon since taking over as the Egyptian head coach, with the Pharaohs pushing on for qualification to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Three wins from their first three games sees Egypt top of Group G and hoping for the best in the playoff draw for the finals. But the tragedies in Port Said forced his national team to take on a larger importance with the Egyptian league postponed and many of his players hugely effected by the revolution taking place in the country.

So perhaps he deserves even more credit than the four coaches above him in the rankings? (Spain’s Vicente Del Bosque, Germany’s Joachim Löw, Holland’s ex-coach Bert van Marwijk and Uruguay’s Oscar Tabarez)

One thing you get with Bob is an underlying sense of commitment, dedication and humility. He understands what his players are good at doing and makes sure the team plays to those strengths.

Egypt failed to qualify for the 2013 African Cup of Nations but he hasn’t panicked. In a recent in-depth interview with FIFA.com, Bradley cited that the huge support his side are getting from the nation is striving him to aim high.

“We talked about the fact that we have this special opportunity; that people in Egypt had this hope and dream to get to the World Cup and that ultimately that was our responsibility.”

With Bradley at the helm, Egyptians are certainly believing again, as the national team hopes to qualify for the World Cup for the first-time since 1990.
