Portland Timbers fans will nervously await the injury news on forward Darlington Nagbe, who left his team’s match Saturday in the 34th minute.
Nagbe, the No. 2 overall MLS draft selection in 2011, got tangled up with Vancouver’s Y.P. Lee at BC Place, immediately grabbing at his left ankle. The Timbers trainer quickly signaled that Nagbe would need replacing – never a great sign.
The Timbers’ Liberian forward, who has started every match this year for Caleb Porter, did walk off the artificial turf field under his own power, but was clearly in pain while doing so.
Nagbe has three goals and two assists this year. Starting along the right side once again, Nagbe helped guide the Timbers attack before the break as Portland, dominating the midfield, easily had the better chances and more possession.
Vancouvers’ Camilo’s, however, had the breakthrough goal on a free kick as the home team led at intermission.
