Despite the disastrous season Queens Park Rangers had to navigate this year in the English Premier League, one key player is still a bit bullish about the results.
Speaking from Brazil, goalkeeper Julio Cesar says despite the hardship, “I had a wonderful year, individually speaking, regardless that the collective is not what I expected.”
Signed from Serie A side Internazionale last summer, Cesar had fallen on tough times before being welcomed with open arms at Loftus Road.
“I was caught by surprise and my career took a bad turn at Inter and QPR were the only club that came for me and helped me at that moment.”
It’s a bit surprising that a bottom-tier English club were the only suitors for Cesar’s signature following his time at Inter, as he reached incredible heights with the Nerazzurri.
Either way, this says a lot about the thought process at QPR, and about Cesar’s future as well. Arsenal has been heavily linked to the Brazilian, and he could be playing up his stock to impress anyone interested.
The quotes from Cesar seem to suggest that he believed things would come to him at QPR rather than having to earn their stay in the Premier League. It also gives new fuel to those who say the parts were greater than the sum of the whole at Loftus Road the last year or two.
