Breaking news coming in from Uruguay today, as Luis Suárez has confirmed that he wishes to leave Liverpool Football Club.
Over the past few days Suárez has given press conferences talking about how “it would be hard to say no” to Real Madrid and stating “now is the time for a change of environment.”
Now Suarez has gone one step further.
He wants out.
But is is complicated. Liverpool do not want to lose him and the Reds said said they “expect him to honor his contract.”
Good luck with that happening, after these comments from Suárez while on international duty.
It is a difficult moment for me. My coach and my colleagues know that they [the media] didn’t treat me well. Because of the paparazzi I could not go in my garden, I could not go to the supermarket. My reason for leaving is not the money. It’s my family and image. I don’t feel comfortable here anymore.
That is a come and get me please to clubs across Europe.
Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and every other superpower or mega-rich clubs will be rubbing their hands gleefully at Suárez’s blatant attempts to evacuate Anfield.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan wants out. Now.
But Liverpool’s response is in keeping with a team that doesn’t want to reveal he is for sale, as any transfer fee would take a massive hit.
A club spokesperson said, “Luis Suárez is not for sale. Neither Luis or his representatives have communicated these feelings directly to Liverpool Football Club. The club remains supportive of Luis.”
What that really means is… “Suárez wants to leave, we want him out too because he is causing too much trouble. Offer us over $40 million and he is yours.”
Or something along those lines.
After biting Branislav Ivanovic’s arm and receiving a 10-game ban from the English FA, Suárez has been hounded by the media and after being involved in several other unsavory incidents, his time in English soccer should be up.
It is a huge shame for the EPL because with a soccer ball at his feet Suárez is a genius. But with everything else, ehhh, he’s not the smartest.
We shall see how this plays out. But is is sure to get ugly over the coming weeks as club and player battle for what they really want.
Suárez a quick exit from English soccer. Liverpool a huge transfer free from a club in Europe, not an EPL rival.
