The official Barclays Premier League website has announced the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford bridge more than 24 hours early.
The post is dated Monday, June 3 and has xx placeholders for the length of his contract. It’s been posted before any other parties have made it public.
It’s long been speculated that Mourinho would come back to Stamford Bridge. He left Real Madrid after the two parties agreed to mutally terminate his contract.
Since Mourinho left Chelsea in 2007, there have been eight different managers presiding over the squad at Stamford Bridge. Club owner Roman Abramovich had a very testy relationship with Mourinho in the past, but he brought the club much success during his stint in London.
As of this posting the website still has the announcement up.
UPDATE: The Premier League has removed the story and issued a formal apology to Chelsea.
