Amid the club’s transfer roller coaster, Lukaku says he’ll remain at Chelsea

With Jose Mourinho rumored to be furiously pursuing strikers such as Edinson Cavani and Hulk, he may have one answer already at Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku, who scored 17 goals on loan at West Brom last season, has insisted he will stay at Chelsea this season and do his best to break into the first team.

Lukaku told the Daily Mail, “I have had a good conversation with Jose Mourinho, and I know it’s up to me to show I’m worth a place. It is the World Cup next year, and I need to be playing. But if I don’t get in the Chelsea team often enough, then I won’t deserve to be in the national squad. I am not afraid of that. I am determined to succeed with Chelsea next season. I want to prove myself.”

The Belgian international mentioned his admiration for Didier Drogba, but also expressed his need for his own identity. “People will compare me with Didier Drogba, and he was always my hero” said Lukaku.  “But I am my own man, and I want to be known for what I do.’

With Abramovic and Mourinho looking to splash the cash, Lukaku may be a perfectly viable option already at Stamford Bridge, costing Chelsea a whole lotta nothin.
