The friendly between the United States Men’s National Team and the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is less than three days away. The players are already walking the streets of Sarajevo and Brad Guzan is proudly displaying photos of the Old Town on his Twitter account. In other words, much of the world already knows exactly who’s been called up to represent the United States. But it’s taken until just a little over 48 hours before kickoff for U.S. Soccer to officially announce its 23 man roster.
Jurgen Klinsmann has selected a solid squad for the friendly, appropriate for the competition the USMNT will face on Wednesday. Bosnia sit atop Group G in UEFA qualifying, leading Greece by three points after six matches played. Thanks to this impressive start to qualification, Bosnia’s national team are now ranked 13th in the world, the strongest showing ever for this still relatively young country.
The United States, of course, are on quite the hot streak themselves, having won eleven matches on the bounce. Klinsmann may have had a tough start to his tenure as coach, but two years in, he seems to have found a rhythm that works. The USMNT will want to continue their undefeated run to carry that momentum into the next round of internationals, when they’ll face qualifiers against Costa Rica and Mexico.
