Olivier Giroud opens Arsenal’s scoring books

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scampered up the left edge and found a streaking Olivier Giroud for the opening goal from the Emirates in just the 6th minute against Aston Villa.

Giroud came flying through the middle of the box and once Oxlade-Chamberlain cut back from the edge Giroud was in perfect position to tap it in far post past American Brad Guzan.

Villa captain Ron Vlaar found himself out of position with a poor challenge on Tomas Rosicky and it sprung “the Ox” down the flank.

Giroud, who got the start over fellow striker Lukas Podolski, is in his second season at Arsenal and bagged 11 goals sharing time with Podolski last year.
