Victor Moses scores in Liverpool debut, giving team halftime lead

Jonjo Shelvey’s evening just got worse.

After scoring an early goal and then gifting Liverpool an equalizer, the Swansea holding midfielder gave a ball away on an errant pass, finding opposing striker Victor Moses, on loan from Chelsea (pictured).

Shelvey then failed to recover, and Moses hammered a shot past Michel Vorm in goal to score on his Liverpool debut.

Swansea nearly equalized moments later, but Simon Mignolet saved Nathan Dyer’s first effort, and center back Martin Škrtel tracked back to block Wilfried Bony’s rebound with a slide inside the six-yard box.

With Moses’ effort in the top half and Škrtel’s in the defensive end, Liverpool took to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead at the Liberty Stadium. Despite stringing together some possession and finding a few chances at the beginning and end of the half, Swansea trails by a goal.
