Brendan Rodgers’ men have had a fine start to the season but looked a little overwhelmed as they went down 2-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. They’re now five points behind leaders Arsenal but can close that gap with a win over Fulham.
Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge looked sharp up front as always, but at the back the Reds were a little shaky. Some called their defeat to the Gunners a reality check.
With Liverpool having lofty title aspirations, the opposite can be said for Fulham who have been in poor form and lost convincingly in their last two league games against Southampton and Manchester United. Martin Jol is under pressure and a big loss to Liverpool today could be the final nail in his coffin.
In team news Glen Johnson returns for Liverpool in defense, while Phillipe Coutinho make his first start since being injured against Swansea in September.
For Fulham, Jol has decided to pack the midfield with Alex Kacaniklic and Ashkan Dejag helping Patjim Kasami, Steve Sidwell and Scott Parker to keep Liverpool’s attackers under wraps.
