Rooney levels for United after Walker’s free kick

It’s all square 1-1 at White Hart Lane despite the home side’s early dominance as Wayne Rooney has returned things to level pegging against the run of play.

The scoring began in the 18th minute when Tottenham defender Kyle Walker drove in a low free kick under the questionable Manchester United wall and past David de Gea for the opener.

The goal started a spell of Spurs dominance, as they pressed high up the field and ravaged the United midfield, pressing them back into cover mode.

However, a good save by De Gea of Paulinho in the 32nd minute saw the ball immediately run down the other end of the pitch, and Wayne Rooney shocked the Spurs fans by equalizing.

Jonny Evans sent in a great cross from the right wing, and despite the ball going over the head of Rooney, it took a United bounce off the foot of Walker and fell right to the English striker who took his chance powerfully.

It has restored some order to the equality of play, as Spurs have pulled back their pressing style from earlier.
