It’s the tail end of a horrific year at Craven Cottage, and Fulham’s third manager is prepared to stick around even if his club can’t find another great escape.
Fulham is five points back of safety and has played one less game than the 17th place team it’s chasing after a 3-1 loss to Everton today in which the Cottagers played a strong, desperate match only to lose.
Magath, via BBC Football, after saying “Yes. For sure,” upon being asked whether he’d stick around if Fulham didn’t survive:
“It is very difficult to take over a team on the bottom and start winning,” said Magath.
“I knew I was coming into a difficult situation.”
Five points down is the difficult spot, but there are points to be found in Fulham’s remaining fixtures. The Cottagers will meet up with strugglers Norwich and Crystal Palace amongst a reasonable run-in.
