David Beckham’s latest pursuit is more malt than midfield, as the former L.A. Galaxy and Manchester United man has teamed up with Diageo, makers of Guinness, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker and Baileys.
The single-grain scotch will be called Haig Club and sell for about $65 a bottle, and a Wall Street Journal report says Beckham will “help develop the brand, its strategy and positioning.”
Best-case scenario? It’s delicious and a massive success. Worst-case scenario? You’ve got an alternative to Beckham’s cologne.
“I’m proud to be working at the heart of a homegrown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years,” Mr. Beckham said.
Also on board for the project is former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, who created “American Idol.”
The scotch will reportedly taste like “butterscotch and toffee.” And scotch. Mostly scotch.
