There is a lot of noise regarding the movement of Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy this summer, and plenty of reports are surfacing with the leading name of Tottenham.
On loan at Newcastle this past season, there’s plenty of suggestions in France that the 27-year-old will not necessarily be making his Midlands stay permanent.
It’s an intriguing prospect, with a few options for director of football Daniel Levy to ponder, but one that make a lot of sense.
Remy has emerged as a vastly important player at St. James Park. Injury has knocked him out of nine of Newcastle’s last 14 matches, and the club lost eight of those nine matches, whereas they picked up three wins in the five matches he played during that span, with Remy getting three goals.
However, with plenty of uncertainty surrounding the future of Newcastle at more than one position, including at manager, the 14-goal man may look for work elsewhere.
Another name that’s surfaced is Arsenal, which would make sense given Arsene Wenger’s affiliation for French players and the need for a striker behind Olivier Giroud on the depth chart.
He could go back to QPR, but that would only be an option if they win promotion back to the Premier League. They are currently in the playoff with a first round matchup against Wigan.
Further landing places that have been suggested are Inter Milan, with whom his agent has reportedly met, and Atletico Madrid, who are anticipating the loss of Diego Costa.
Nothing is too concrete at this point, but it would behoove fans to watch this space, as some sort of movement will be likely for Remy this summer.
