The Socceroos were the final nation to name their 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil and head coach Ange Postecoglou has left out a few experienced players.
Josh Kennedy, the man who scored the winning goal to seal Australia’s qualification, has been left out and so has Tom Rogic, Luke Wilkshire and Mark Birighitti. The squad was trimmed down from 27 to 23 right on the FIFA deadline, as Australia prepares for just their fourth World Cup appearance in history and third-straight.

After playing at two-consecutive World Cups, both Kennedy and Wilkshire were in line to make it three on the spin but the former has suffered through injuries. Kennedy has a back issue and Celtic defender Rogic has struggled to shake off knocks all season in the Scottish Premier League and while he was on loan with the Melbourne Victory.
Rogic is considered to be one of the best players Australia possesses but he will be missing the showpiece tournament this summer after struggling in a scrimmage against a local Brazilian side on Monday before the final cuts were made.
MLS fans, particularly those of the New York Red Bulls, will have Tim Cahill to cheer on in Brazil as the Aussie legend will play in his third World Cup for Australia.
