Thrilling midfielder Marco Reus may be the latest name on the list of stars who will not play at the 2014 World Cup.
Reus hurt his ankle just before halftime of Friday’s friendly against Armenia, and was on the turf for a spell before limping off the field.
The Borussia Dortmund limped off the field after he was injured in a challenge against Artur Yedigaryan of Kazakhstan’s FC Kairat. The unfortunate incident happened just one minute before halftime.
Reus was not able to continue and was subbed by Lukas Podolski. The injury looks really bad, hopefully it won’t put a damper on Reus’ World Cup dreams.
Reus scored five times in Europe for Borussia Dortmund, adding 16 in the Bundesliga this season.
Even on a squad as deep as Germany’s team, an injury to a player like Reus would hurt. With Cristiano Ronaldo hampered and — perhaps — Reus, are American supporters feeling a bit buoyed at the relative health of their team going into the tournament, or at they fearful of Saturday’s tilt against Nigeria?
