Mexico announces XI for opener; Chicharito an unhappy sub for country

Returning to international play has not won Javier Hernandez a starting spot as Manchester United’s “super sub” will at-best play the same role in Mexico’s World Cup opener against Cameroon on Friday.

Giovani dos Santos and Oribe Peralta will be the primary attackers for El Tri to start their Group B opener.

Like a certain other CONCACAF team, Mexico’s opener against an African team is a must-have three points if it has any hopes of moving out of group play. And as ESPN’s Tom Marshall reports, Chicharito is not pleased with the development:

Perhaps Chicharito remains a super sub on reputation, or perhaps he just hasn’t done enough to convince his coaches otherwise for country or club. Hernandez has scored 35 goals in 59 matches for his country.
