John Terry sends signed shirt to fan whose mother died

John Terry gets his fair share of stick, and rightfully so. But today, we’ll tip our cap to the long-time Chelsea center-back who showed real compassionate to a grieving fan.

Louise Heaton, a 21-year-old Chelsea supporter, recently suffered a tragedy when her mother passed away and after learning of her loss, Terry sent a heart-felt message along with a signed, match-worn shirt.

Terry’s message to Louise said:

“Good morning, I’m so very sorry to hear the terrible news of your mum passing. I would love to send you one of my match shirts and sign it to you. To know I and Chelsea can help you through this very difficult time would be an honour for me.

“You need to continue your mum’s legacy and be strong but never be afraid to cry and think of those fantastic memories. Over time it will get easier. Lots of love JT. I really hope you accept my shirt. X”

The shirt arrived on Monday and Louise thereafter posted her thankfulness on Twitter with the caption: ‘The true John Terry #CaptainLeaderLegend”.

According to Louise, this is not the first act of kindness she’s received from Terry. “I sent him a message just to thank him, as he had previously wished me a happy birthday, letting him know how much it meant considering the circumstances,” she said. “And that’s when he sent me the message and offered me a signed shirt.”

Louise’s tweet thanking Terry has been retweeted over 2,500 times. Pretty decent PR for the big man.
