VIDEO: Landon Donovan notches 135th assist in MLS, ties all-time record


On Sunday night, the Landon Donovan appreciation tour continued and the main man didn’t disappoint.

LD notched three assists in LA’s 4-0 thrashing of the New York Red Bulls at the StubHub Center, with the third for Robbie Keane’s goal given to him after a little delay. Donovan also grabbed a goal to take his all-time goal tally to 144, the highest in MLS history, and has 18 assists this season, his highest in a single-season during his career.

Donovan has now tied Steve Ralston’s all-time MLS record of 135 assists and has four regular season games left to notch one more helper to sit atop the all-time leaders list for goals and assist in Major League Soccer. With Donovan retiring at the end of the 2014 MLS season and LA on an incredible hot-streak with no defeats in nine and six wins in that stretch as they are now level on points with Seattle atop the Western Conference and look forward to Donovan’s final postseason as a player before he retires.
