Hull City beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at the KC Stadium on Saturday, as the Tigers clinched their first home win of the season and their first victory since the opening day of the season.

Mohamed Diame scored his third goal in four games since joining Hull to give them the lead and Nikica Jelavic sealed the win late on.

Palace huffed and puffed but barely threatened to score as they sit in 14th on eight points, while Hull City are up to eighth on nine points.

Nikica Jelavic went close for the Tigers early on as he headed over from inside the box but Palace almost went ahead as Mile Jedinak curled a free kick just over the bar.

After a lively start there was a lengthy delay as Scott Dann was stretchered off the pitch for Palace following a nasty looking injury where his knee seemed to twist awkwardly. Adrian Mariappa replaced him in the heart of the Eagles defense.

In the second half there really wasn’t much to separate the two teams as a deflection off Palace defender Damien Delaney spun up and over Julian Speroni but the ball landed on top of the net. Soon after Hull did go ahead as Andrew Robertson curled in a great cross from the left which Diame arrived to head home powerfully and give the Tigers the lead.

Palace had a really good go in the second half but Jelavic wrapped things up on the counter attack after a great interception and through ball from Jake Livermore set the Croatian free. Jelavic still had plenty to do but cut inside and slotted home with the outside of his right boot to seal a first home win of the season for Hull.
