After a powerful storm system swept through Southern France on Monday night for the second time in a week, Ligue 1 side Montpellier are left counting the cost of a huge clean up operation after torrential rainfall flooded their home, Stade de Mosson.

As the sun rose on Tuesday the sheer power of the storm was evident to workers arriving at Montpellier’s home as severe damage to the pitch and stands occurred after more than three meters of flood water poured into the venue. You can see some of the damage in the photos below.
Montpellier are likely to play upcoming home games at a neutral venue, while club president Laurent Nicolllin also confirmed that the clubs 40th anniversary celebration in November has been cancelled.
