Ah, there he is.
After signing for New York City FC back in June, we haven’t seen much of Spanish legend David Villa… until now.
Making his debut on loan for Melbourne City FC in Australia’s A-League, the former Barcelona star scored a typically composed goal to get off the mark in the 63rd minute to earn Melbourne a 1-1 draw against Sydney.
Villa, 32, will spend the next few months playing for Melbourne City before making his move to NYC to play for the sister club of Manchester City and Melbourne, NYC FC.
Jason Kreis’ New York City FC will begin its inaugural MLS season in 2015 and with Villa’s stint in Melbourne going well, plus Frank Lampard’s success at Manchester City, Kreis’ squad is shaping up rather nicely. Over/under on Villa netting 20 goals in MLS next season?
