Just in case you were worried about Luis Suarez’s fitness levels during his four-month ban from the game, his new manager at Barcelona has moved to calm any fears…
Well, he’s at least confirmed that Suarez “is not fat” as rumors persist about the Uruguayan’s poor level of fitness.

Suarez last played in a competitive match during the World Cup at the end of June but had been training on his own before playing in various friendlies for Barcelona B and Uruguay when the terms of his ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup were relaxed.
According to the good old rumor mill, Suarez has been packing on the pounds during his time away from the spotlight.
Barcelona’s head coach Luis Enrique has moved to quash any of those rumors. Here’s what he told the Spanish press ahead of Barca’s match vs. Eibar this weekend:
“We see him training every day, he’s a player like any other and what’s clear is that he’s not fat,” Enrique said. “He never has been, despite everything that’s been said. He’s been in shape for several months so everything is fine. It’s difficult to evaluate if he’s at 70, 80, 90 or 100 percent but what is sure is he feels much better in training. He’s been in a certain dynamic for a while and the fact that he has been able to play for his country has allowed him to rediscover the daily life of a footballer.”
We will get our first proper glance at Suarez on Oct. 25, as he is free to make his Barca debut against arch-nemesis Real Madrid in El Classico. Until we see Suarez’s comeback next week, feel free to invent witty lines such as “hungry, hungry Suarez” etc. to past the time. No wonder he’s always biting people…
