According to an agent in Spain, Barcelona’s Brazilian defender Dani Alves will join Manchester United next summer.
The flamboyant right back, 31, has less than a year left on his deal at the Nou Camp and is free to negotiate a move elsewhere from January 2015 onwards.
Apparently, there’s no need for that, as Alves if off to the Red Devils.
That’s according to FIFA agent Francois Gallardo who told Spanish TV show Neox that a deal has already been done for the Brazilian defender. “The player will leave Barcelona next season. He has signed a preliminary agreement with Manchester United,” Gallardo said.
Alves’ pwn agent has stated his displeasure towards Barcelona and believes his client will move on in the new year.
The former Sevilla full back has had a stellar career with Barca since arriving in 2008 and would be a great addition for United, especially on a free transfer. With their defense still looking short of both experience and quality, getting Alves on a free would be a masterstroke from Louis van Gaal.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also said to be monitoring Alves’ situation but it seems like he would start right away at Manchester United as Rafael continues to struggle defensively.
