Frank Lampard’s Premier League career may well be over.
The 36-year-old midfielder was stretchered off the pitch on Saturday during the first half of Manchester City’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Lampard was injured after he stretched for the ball and immediately signaled to the bench as he clutched his thigh in agony.
New York City FC now face an anxious wait to hear an update on the status of their Designated Player, as Lampard’s loan spell at their sister club Man City has taken a turn for the worse.
The former Chelsea player only spoke a few days ago about his plans to head over to MLS in January to begin his career with NYC FC after the loan stint with Man City finishes.
However depending on the seriousness of this injury, Lampard may not grace a soccer field in the PL or MLS for quite some time. Early indications suggest it’s an upper thigh injury but we are still waiting for more details on how long Lampard could be out for.
