Since Mauricio Pochettino took over at Tottenham, Spurs fans have seen less and less of Paulinho.

The Brazilian midfielder has yet to start for Spurs this season after making 30 Premier League appearances last campaign.

With rumors circulating that his hometown club Corinthians are planning a bid to bring back Paulinho, Spurs’ boss Pochettino denied the possibility of a move.

“No, no Tottenham player, including Paulinho, will be loaned to Brazil. There is no chance. Paulinho arrived late, one of the last players to join the squad after the World Cup.

There isn’t any problem. He is training and doing well, it’s just a technical decision.”

When Paulinho joined Tottenham from Corinthians in July of 2013, his price tag set the club’s record transfer fee, although it has since been broken by Roberto Soldado and then Erik Lamela.

After being a regular starter at the beginning of last season, Paulinho’s form dipped as he found himself coming off the bench towards the end of the campaign. Through eight matches this season, he is yet to make a Premier League start.

He was not included in the team for Tottenham’s midweek Europe League match against Greek-side Asteras Tripolis.

Spurs currently sit ninth on the Premier League table with 11 points through eight matches. It has been a slower start than expected for a club that would like to retain its spot in European competition.
