Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday at the Stadium of Light, as the Black Cats’ horrendous defending continued.

After losing 8-0 to Southampton last week, two horror mistakes from Wes Brown and Vito Mannone handed Alexis Sanchez with easy goals, as the Gunners won for the first time in four matches, while Sunderland have just one win all season.
The Gunners weren’t great but they’ll take these three points and run as Arsene Wenger’s men are in fifth place on 14 points, while Sunderland are 17th on eight points.
In the 20th minute Danny Welbeck made some space for himself on the edge of the box and curled a decent effort just over the bar as Arsenal started well at the Stadium of Light.
On the half hour mark a bad mistake from Wes Brown let in Sanchez and the Chilean attacker scored the opener with a cool finish.Brown scuffed a back pass to Vito Mannone and Sanchez latched onto the loose ball and fired home. 1-0 to Arsenal. That strike was Sanchez’s 7th goal in his last 11 games for the Gunners as the away side led at the break.
After the interval Arsenal continued to take advantage of slack defending from the home side as Patrick van Anholt was next to give the ball away to Sanchez but Mannone saved well this time.

Sunderland struggled to create anything going forward as Jack Rodwell’s tame header from close range was as good as it got for Gus Poyet’s men.
Welbeck headed over for Arsenal as the Gunners looked dangerous on the break, but Lee Cattermole sent a fizzer wide in the dying moments as the Black Cats were urged on to nick a late equalizer at home by their raucous fans.

However the Gunners put some gloss on the scoreline in the final minute with Mannone having a nightmare, getting the ball stuck under his feet and Sanchez scored his second of the match and eighth of the season.
