Tough days at Aston Villa where Paul Lambert’s side were forced to cancel their ‘Goal of the Month’ competition because, quite simply, they didn’t score one.
The report comes from The Mirror, who reports that the monthly contest had to be cancelled due to an October goalless streak that saw consecutive losses to Manchester City, Everton and Queens Park Rangers.
The goalless streak lasted a total of five matches dating back to the 1-0 win Paul Lambert’s side enjoyed at Liverpool on September 13th. This past Sunday the bleeding was finally brought to an end when Andreas Weimann scored to put Villa up 1-0, before conceding twice and losing to Spurs.
With a schedule that pits Villa against West Ham, Southampton and Burnley there’s hope that November’s ‘Goal of the Month’ contest will be much more eventful for the Birmingham side.
