Arsenal’s defensive woes were on full display today as they threw away a threegoal lead to draw 3-3 with Anderlecht in the Champions League.
As gut-wrenching as it was for Arsenal it was equally invigorating for Anderlecht, their fans and even past players. Seek no father than former Anderlecht academy graduate and current Manchester City center-back, Vincent Kompany. He hit up Twitter to celebrate the comeback and quickly found himself in a conversation with Arsenal fan, Piers Morgan.
But Morgan, upset over Arsenal’s porous defending, had no other move but to see whether the big Belgian might be willing to come play for the Gunners for a cool 50 million pounds. Kompany refused and Morgan raised the fee to 60 million and a Ferrari, which precipitated the single best response a player could have made in the situation – Kompany telling Morgan “Those days have gone Pearsie, I play for glory.”
Doesn’t get much better than that.
